Thomas Sigwald
Born in Vienna, Thomas Sigwald received his singing training in the studios of Althea Bridges, Ilko Natchev and Ron Schneider. After completing his drama training at the Max Reinhardt Seminar his career took of in 1988 at first in the realm of musicals at the United Stages of Vienna, the Municipal Theatre Klagenfurt as well as at the Opera House in Graz. Thomas Sigwald appeared shortly afterwards at the Municipal Theatre in Linz, where he sang numerous roles in his (lyric) ‘domain’. Besides opera, Thomas Sigwald devoted much time to the operetta. Today he is considered one of the not-too-numerous authentic interpreters of this difficult ‘light’ genre, and appears regularly at the State Theatre Gärtnerplatz (Munich), the Municipal Theatres in Salzburg and Klagenfurt, in the Operetta Metropolis Baden and the Semper Opera Dresden. Concert tours have taken him to the Sydney Opera House and the Melbourne Concert Hall in Australia, as well as to Barcelona/Pallaun, Tokyo (Santuri Hall), Chicago (Symphony Hall), Lincoln Centre (N.Y.), Kennedy Centre (Washington). Besides “Viennese Specialities” this All-round-talent invented and produced the concert programs “Operettts” and “HoHoHo”. Since the year of 2006 Thomas Sigwald is permanent member of the Volksoper Vienna. |
